Junction 6 and the A22

The A22 brings a collector up from Godstone or down from Purley in minutes, and the A25 links Oxted and Limpsfield to Redhill. That is enough for more than one yard to quote CR3 or RH8, and the site shows you the best figure; the winning yard rings to agree a day, usually within one to three days.

On the hill and in the valley

CR3 is Caterham — the town in the valley and Caterham-on-the-Hill above it — with Whyteleafe, Chaldon and Woldingham; CR6 Warlingham and Chelsham; RH8 Oxted, Limpsfield and Hurst Green; RH9 Godstone, South Godstone and Blindley Heath. The roads between the valley and the hill are steep and some of the estates on the hill are tight for a recovery truck; the villages are drives and lanes. Say where the car is and whether it rolls.

What comes off the Downs

Commuter cars that stopped being used when the train from Caterham or Oxted took over, parked for years and now non-runners; older family cars failed on rust and emissions; and the odd newer car written off on the A22. All are priced by weight, make, age and what is still on the car, with the winch included. Vans from the Godstone and Hobbs industrial estates are priced from the registration and can be invoiced.

By a licensed yard

The collector is an Authorised Treatment Facility: photo ID and proof of address for the registered keeper, bank transfer within 24 hours of collection, and the Certificate of Destruction issued with the DVLA told. No V5C? The ID check stands in for it.
